Quest’anno sono ben quattro le Commissioni Roma: Roger Ballen a cura di Marco Delogu e Flavio Scollo, Simon Roberts a cura di Flavio Scollo, Jon Rafman a cura di Bartolomeo Pietromarchi e il 6 dicembre durante il corso della seconda inaugurazione prevista Leo Rubinfien a cura di Marco Delogu.[:en]The XV edition of FOTOGRAFIA – Festival Internazionale di Roma opens on the 21st of October at the MACRO museum and is promoted by Roma Capitale, Assessorato alla Crescita culturale – Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali, organized by Zètema Progetto Cultura, with the artistic direction of Marco Delogu. The exposition, as usual, comprehends internationally renowned photographers and focuses on the state of contemporary photography. This year’s theme is entirely dedicated to the city of Rome and thus the exposition is entitled “Roma, il mondo” (“Rome, the world”). Rome’s theme has been chosen this year because of the bicentennial anniversary of the publication of the first volume of Goethe’s Italian Journey, and is a demonstration of how the city of Rome is willing to be a central point of international culture trough photography (this year’s Rome Commission was composed of four international photographers). Rome is the only city in the world to have a large number of Cultural Academies, a legacy of the “Grand Tour”, which have been collaborating with the festival in the past editions.

The large main group exhibition, curated by Marco Delogu, will show the works of the photographers of the past editions of the “Rome Commission” – Josef Koudelka, Olivo Barbieri, Anders Petersen, Martin Parr, Graciela Iturbide, Gabriele Basilico, Guy Tillim, Tod Papageorge, Alec Soth, Paolo Ventura, Tim Davis, Paolo Pellegrin, Hans Christian Schink and the curator Marco Delogu as well – and this year’s works of the XIV edition of the Commissione Roma made by:

  • Roger Ballen, South African, international star of photography, triumphant at the 2014 Basel Art fair, whose works are in the collections of the best museums in the world.
  • Jon Rafman, Canadian, a very well known young artist, famous for his works that use new technologies, in particular street view.
  • Simon Roberts, English, famous for his landscapes, will do a work with overlapping images realized by him and antique postcards.
  • Leo Rubinfien, American, known as the great disciple of Garry Winogrand (of whom he curated the retrospective that traveled the most important museums in the world) and author of the famous work “Wounded cities”.
