Following the book entitled “due migrazioni” (Two Migrations), Marco Delogu has returned to the theme of sheep farming in Lazio, continuing the course commenced in 2007.
The work focuses on “migrants” who come to Lazio from the most diverse regions of the world, remaining alongside the local farmers for months or years.
The geographic line traced by the photo documentary commences in Scotland and passes through Sardinia before continuing to India and ending in distant Australia and New Zealand, impressing a universal character on the people and places of the story and presenting Lazio as an emblematic region of the sheep farming world.
It is a world that has little changed over the centuries, apart from the transformation of its workforce, which is now as never before a blend of different races and cultures.
Marco Delogu was born in 1960 in Rome, where he still lives and works.
His research focuses on portraits of groups of people who share common experiences and languages. In recent years the main focus of his works has been the nature, and hence his attention has shifted, in various manners, from man to his surroundings. He has published over 20 books and has held exhibitions in many art galleries and museums including: the Galleria Comunale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Rome; Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Rome; the Warburg Institute, London; the Henry Moore Foundation, Leeds; IRCAM - Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; Museé de l'Elysee, Lausanne; the PhotoMuseum, Moscow; the ex-GIL, Rome; the Capitoline Museums, Rome; and the Accademia di Francia, Villa Medici, Rome.
He is director of FotoGrafia, the international photography festival held in Rome.
