“Tare Rallen” is a magical formula and the focus of a child’s inner monologue, which filters the outside world with early and whimsical awareness. Five-year-old Davide reads the two mysterious words written on the road through the rear window of a car and is bewitched by them. They will become the key that allows him to access the mystery of others and the secret code that permits him to trace a map through the indecipherable forest of adults. The experiences that he senses, the explanations that he imagines and the fantasies that tangibly transform reality paint a light but disturbing picture: the story of a contemporary family, suspended between love and disintegration. Giovanardi’s surprising and direct prose recreates the magic of a child’s gaze, a vision that is simultaneously a proposal and a hope, an interpretation and a gamble.
Guido Giovanardi is 24 years old. He was born in Rome, where he is currently studying Natural Sciences at “La Sapienza” University.
